Biography: Only the second bottling of Epoch’s Bordeaux blend, 2022 The Statesman comes from very low-yielding, head-trained vines, making it limited in production but mighty in flavor. Tightly wound at first and needing a good decant or time in bottle to open, this wine speaks fluent Cabernet with notes of plum, red currant, cherry leather, tobacco, cigar box, cedar, and forest floor, accented by hints of Christmas spice and evergreen.  The wine drives in a straight, linear line yet fills the palate with fruit perched high across the top as chalky tannins rise mid-palate and radiate outward.  Add Paso’s hallmark acid lift and mineral core, and we’ve got a tuxedo-wearing cowboy in our midst. – Jordan Fiorentini, Winemaker
