Biography: The 2021 York Mountain Syrah stands out uniquely in its ability to push and pull serious sensation across the nose and palate all the while remaining ethereal and elegant.  Red and black cherry aromas coincide with an herb-laced bouquet of sage, bay leaf and underbrush, fresh cracked pepper, and white roses. An unmistakable meaty/iron-laced undertone sends your mind connecting the dots between the Syrahs of the world, and it finishes with a touch of cocoa and vanilla.  This is York Mountain Syrah in its truest form from a dreamy vintage.  Age it for 10+ years but make sure you try a few bottles along the way.

Savory aromas dominate this coastal Syrah’s initial perfume – black olive, roasted game, sage brush, eucalyptus, white pepper – then notes of blackberry, cassis, purple flowers, chocolate, and vanilla spice emerge, adding even more complexity. The wine gently enters the palate offering a completely ethereal experience juxtaposed with its bolder aromas. Flavors are delicate and graceful, yet seamless and mouth-filling, as floral notes join the spicey black fruit and earth flavors and spread gently in all planes of the mouth, leaving no harsh edges, only massive sophistication. – Jordan Fiorentini

Cool climate, yet rich, the sense of place in our York Mountain Syrah is undeniable with notes of forest floor, fresh tar, fresh cut oregano and thyme, ground black pepper, red rose petals, black plum and blackcurrant, cured meats, pencil shavings, and black licorice. Savory, spicey, and seeping with minerality, this wine glides across the palate, filling out all corners with its milk chocolatey texture, void of hard edges or angles. Elegant and full with every sip, balance and completeness linger long on the senses.
